PHYSICAL STRENGTH - PART 3

Physical strength is a product of muscular force to overcome resistance while in motion, and cardiovascular endurance. Obstacles to growth are not limited to physical attributes but also include mental and emotional elements which can restrict motivation to change. The more physically strong we are, the more we are capable of, and the more positive benefits we will experience in daily life. Improvements include: a healthy heart, strong bones, an improved sense of well-being, reduced stress, and more stable mental and emotional states.

With a 6-week timeline to achieve my target weight, body fat percentage and physique, it meant I had to be dedicated. I followed a strict diet and stringent training regime, whilst making sure I had enough rest and recovery time.

My mental and emotional states affected how I trained. When I was in a positive mindset, I trained better, I was stronger and smashed each session. Other days when I felt tired or fatigued it was a risk I wouldn’t perform as well, would be unmotivated, or would give up – on these days it was particularly important to reflect on my mental and emotional states to minimise any negative effect on my physical strength.

By the time of the shoot I had met my targets and was where I wanted to be, all the hard work, dedication and pain paid off…!

One aspect of strength is not any more important than the other. They go hand in hand, working together to provide us with complete strength to use in all avenues of our lives.
